The founder of this approach is Erich Fromm.
In the previous post we dealt with the negative manifestations of human freedom. Once in such a situation, people often act irrationally, not knowing how to use the new opportunities. Fromm also by developing a system of negative trends conduct a free man, he proposed the second option. Here's how you should use the new features and express themselves, with the aim of creation, not of destruction.
Positive freedom
Fromm believed that people can be independent and unique, without losing the sense of unity with other people and society. He called the kind of freedom, in which a person feels a part of the world and at the same time does not depend on him, positive liberty. Achieving positive freedom requires people spontaneous activity in life. Fromm pointed out that the spontaneous activity we see in children who usually act in accordance with its inner nature, not according to the social norms and prohibitions. In his book "The Art of Love" (1956/1974), one of the most famous, Fromm emphasized that love and work - are key components by which the development of positive liberty through the manifestation of spontaneous activity. Thanks to the love and labor people again together with others without sacrificing their sense of individuality and integrity.

Based on the above, for self-development should focus precisely on love (not necessarily object to the material, it could be the love of a certain idea, the beloved, goal). And, accordingly, to work. This work makes it possible to leave behind a legacy of unspecified or bring ideas to life.
